Phuket is one of Thailand’s most popular tourist destinations, and yet visitor numbers are well down on previous year. The beaches and streets in Phuket are quiet and businesses are beginning to feel the strain. Thailand’s political problems have been well documented by the media, so much so that the country is portrayed as being in complete anarchy. Although the problems have been centered in Bangkok, they have impacted Phuket. But what’s the reality of the situation? Should tourists be wary of traveling to Phuket?

Starwood signs New Beachfront Resort in Vietnam

Starwood’s Westin Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with Phat Dat Real Estate Development Corporation for a Westin resort to be developed on a beachfront site in Cam Ranh Bay, Khanh Hoa Province on the southeastern coast of Vietnam. Rixos Hotels expands into Asia

Rixos Hotels continues its global expansion with the launch of its first hotel in Thailand. The 298-room Rixos Premium Khao Lak opens on December 16, the Rixos Group’s initial hotel in Asia as it expands outside its European base for the first time.
The Khao Lak resort follows the company’s eight other properties in Europe by presenting Asia’s first exclusive “All Inclusive” concept, in which guests receive meals and other food and beverage options as part of the in-room package.

Thailand picked up the largest number of awards at the AsiaSpa Awards

Thailand picked up the largest number of awards at the AsiaSpa Awards Ceremony, which was held in The Salon of the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. The awards, organised by AsiaSpa magazine and now in their fourth year, celebrate the best spas in terms of innovation and quality, and are voted on by 29 independent judges.

Boutique Hotel opens in Bangkok

A new boutique hotel has opened in the heart of Bangkok. Located in the Sukhumvit/Ploenchit area on Soi Ruamrudee, the unusually named TENFACE hotel, is just a 2 minutes shuttle ride from the BTS (Ploenchit Station) and close to Lumpini Park, Ratchaprasong Shopping Street, Central Department Store, Siam Paragon, MBK etc. A shuttle service in a customized vintage Mercedes, Tuk Tuk and a van is available to/from the BTS through the day.
