Posted August 29, 2008 , add a commentIn July 2008, Singapore welcomed 916,000 visitor arrivals. While this is a decline of 3.8% compared to a year ago, July 2008 recorded the highest number of visitors since January 2008. Visitor days were estimated to reach 3.8 million days, an increase of 4.7% in comparison with July 2007. Indonesia (167,000), P.R. China (105,000), Australia (80,000), India (63,000) and Japan (47,000) were Singapore’s top five visitor-generating markets. These markets accounted for 50% of total visitor arrivals for the month.

Tourism officials report mixed results in island’s summer season
Posted , add a commentLocal tourism industry officials are reporting mixed results for this year’s family vacation season, which is drawing to a close. The month of July was strong in terms of the number of visitors spending the night on Hilton Head Island. But some property and hotel managers said it took some pretty heavy discounting to get tourists here.
Ken Nason, director of sales and marketing at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa, said the resort handed out gas gift cards to summer visitors.

Royal Cliff Beach Resort in Pattaya wins Five Best of Awards of Excellence 2008

It is the first time that five such awards have been won by one hotel property in one calendar year anywhere in the world. The restaurants which won the coveted awards are Caprice Restaurant & Bar (Contemporary European), Larn Thong Restaurant (Classical Thai) Grill Room & Wine Cellar (International grilled specialities), Rossini (Italian Cuisine) and Chrysanthemum Palace (Cantonese Cuisine).
